Having problems with your Ford Ranger ?

Once car is turned on the engine races full rpm s gas pedal has to much play and stays down to the floor .could it be a cable problem?

Coud be a cable problem or a stuck TPS (throttle Position Sensor) Check for binding linkage with the engine off operate the accelerator while someone watches the action to make sure it goes back to the original poing with no binding or sticking Replace the accelerator Cable or Lube any sticking linkage with liquid wrench,
