Having problems with your Chevrolet Astro ?

I have a 1991 chevy astro van when my van sits without starting up more than 12 hours the battery is dead. I bought a new battery and the same problem remains. I took the van to a repair shop and they told me that something is draining the battery very slowly and that it must be a short somewhere. My friend thinks its in either the windows that only work occassionaly, or in the door locks? can you please help me?Can I unplug the fuse that controls the door lock? Which fuse would it be? I

Answers :

The way to find the short is as follows. Using a 12 volt test light start with the hot wire(s) going to where you think the problem is located.( like the windows or door locks as you stated) Continue this process with all of the circuits until the bulb in the test light "lights up" when you insert the probe into the circuit wire. Bear in mind this type of problem can be very time consuming which is why vehicle electrical repair shops charge so much.
