Having problems with your Chevrolet Blazer ?
I have been having a problem with the 4wd not shifting into 4wd and now I can not get it out of 4wd low with any of the three switches on the dash. I found a loose vacuun line near the abs control unit that I can't find where it was attached too. Its one off the 5/32 lines that come off a check valve that is about 7 inches in lenght. There is one small 5/32 line that is off that check valve that goes into a wire harness just below the check valve that comes off that check valve at 90 degrees, its
The 4 wheel drive is switched differntly depending on the model yeaqr and the model. the s series ( s10) have a vacume motor under the battery tray that the vacume hose connected to. this motor has a cable on it thaqt goes to the frount Axel. theres a a switch on the front axel thattells the dash light it it's in 4 wheel or not. If the vacume hose is on follow it back to where it connects to a tee. follow that hose to a vacume motor on the side of the transfer case, this can be connected and still not work, the lever the vacume motor pulls on can get stuck and if it's in low range you may have to help it with some Blaster, ( Penatrating oil) and a hammer, You can hit it to rattle it losse but don't nail it, You may have to jack the vehical up and put it on jack stands and turn all the wheels and work them back and forth working the shift lingages by hand and careful hitting with the hammer to get it out of low. New vacume hoses and make sure where it hooks to the engine is good ( new hose better) Sometimes the vacume hose your talking abut is connected to a fitting on the power break unit but I don't know what year or motoer so there's alot of right answers. Desiel is even more different. Not much to go on chevy cars and trucks as they've been making them with 4 wheel drive a long time and over time they've put all the diffent engines in them. PUSH BUTTON 4 WD started in the late 70's and they still use it today.
Hello Mark. Look in the yellow pages for a transmission shop. I prefer AAMCO. Your transmissioin probably needs to have the bands tightened, not a big job but a necessary one. Joe
