Having problems with your Chevrolet Camaro ?

My car is cranking over but back fires in to the air intake and wount start what should i do it is a 1997 camaro 5.7 lt1 motor

Only way that can happen is if the spark is firing before the intake valves are closed. Check the cap and rotor for carbon tracking and if you had the wires off, make sure they are correctly installed (correct order). Initial engine timing needs to be checked also. (rotor must point directly at or 180 degrees away from the #1 wire tower with crank pulley set at "0" degrees (TDC)
Mechanically, a bad timing chain or burned valve will also give you similar problems.
