Having problems with your Chevrolet Chevy ?

I have a 1972 chevy nova and can't get the tranmission stick out to replace it

If you are trying to replace the tube, it is attached by one bolt that holds the transmission to the engine. This bolt is a 9/16 bolt that screws into the bock of the block though the trans housing at the top. You can see the tab on the side of the tube. Remove the bolt. Then give it a twist and pull up. There is a rubber sleeve or an o-ring around the tube that seals the tube. Make sure you have a pan under the trans because you will loose a lot of fluid. Put a little grease on the new one when you replace it and it will go back in easily. If the dip stick itself is stuck you will most likely have to pull the tube out to get it removed.
