Having problems with your Chevrolet Lumina ?

1991 Chevy Lumina - No spark

\015 Our Chevy Lumina just "stopped" on the highway a few days ago, and is getting no spark, though the engine cranks. The car was running great before then. We're not mechanically inclined, but from web searches, think it's the Ignition Control Module, the Crankshaft Position Sensor or the wiring to one of those. The instructions/pictures I've found for testing are for 1995 or older. The wires on our car aren't in the same place.\012\012(By the way, when I say left I mean passenger side, right is driver's side. I'm a computer geekette, not a mechanic. :P)\012\012I'm hoping it's just the wiring, so we can patch it up, get it to town, and pick up a new harness, but as I said, our wiring differs from the pictures I've seen. Colors are guesses from my husband:\012\012On the right is a set of two wires - red and black. On the left, there's a set of five wires - white, white, purple, black and pink. There is a thick black wire and a thick orange wire below the coil packs, roughly centered. All of these except the orange wire feed into a conduit, and which branches. At least the set of five and the thick black one exit the conduit at the same place (going to different devices) on the left side.\012\012On the bottom (a bit below the coil packs, and to the left) is a set of three wires, orange, yellow and white, he thinks - they're pretty grimy. These are wrapped together with sticky, torn electrical tape and broken conduit, so it appears there was a problem at some point in the past. (We've only had this car a couple of months.) They're plugged in some where on the left side of engine. I'm thinking this MIGHT be the CPK harness, except in the 1995 Lumina, this only has two wires, and we have three.\012\012I need a picture/diagram! Barring that, from this description, anyone have an idea of what these are going to?\012\012We're 20 miles away from the nearest autoparts store - heck, we're 60 miles from the nearest McDonalds, lol - and as I said, we're not mechanically inclined. It'd be great to have an idea of what we're looking at and looking for when we are begging ride after ride to town for parts.)\012\012Help?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 26-10-2020
