Having problems with your Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ?

I have a 98 chevy silverado and the blower motor recently would only work on high intermitently. I checked the fuses (all good), replaced the resitor but this did not correct the problem. I took out the heater & A/C control module and found the plug in connector (7 terminals total) 2 of bottom 3 terminals have gotten hot. The terminal that looks the worst is the one that has a gap in it (2 prong terminal) in addition to the female plug connector that is melted. I'm wondering if there is some

Answers :

This is the plug that goes to the resistor, and from there to the motor of the fan. The connector overheats to the point of melting because the motor of the fan is shorted. Replace the motor then test the control module, it's very probable that the very high current has done some damage.
