Having problems with your Chrysler PT Cruiser ?

I have an '01 PT Cruiser with 115,000 + miles. The car runs fine for about 15 miles then stalls. Car will not start for about 10-15 minutes. When car starts, it runs perfectly for another 10-15 miles. I thought it was the termostat. Flushed system and changed it. It did not fix the problem. I heard it could be the crank sensor. Is this a possibility? Do you know the solution before I start replacing things I don't need to?

If you have an electronic display in the bottom half of your odometer (speedometer) try getting the fault code displayed...key in the ignition (do not try to start the car) then switch from off, then on, then off, then on then off then on and leave on...take note of the four digit number(s) prefixed with a letter (most often a 'P') in the bottom display.\015\012P0340 for example means a dead cam sensor fault.\015\012My guess is that it is your cam sensor that is faulty rather than the crank sensor as mentioned, but read the codes and then simple post the number on google ("Chrysler PXXXX error code") to find the explanation of what it means. A couple of bolts (supplied) and about $30 for new cam sensor is all that should be needed
