Having problems with your Dodge Durango ?

Hi i have 2000 Durango R/T 5.9l Magnum.I have a ticking noise that sound like a vavle tap after the truck warms up.The noise sounds like it was coming from the timing chain area so i had it replaced. The noise is still there.I had just the timing chain replaced not the trust plate/tensioner could it still be coming from there.Listening with a stethoscope this past weekend it still is the loudest from the timing chain cover. It has 80,000 miles on it and other wise runs perfect. If it is the lifters

Answers :

It can't be the chain, otherwise you would hear a rattle, not a tap. But you should take its cover off and look at the thrust plate - maybe is loose and vibrate.
Since its a tapping sounds it must have something to do with the distribution.Take the valve covers off and check the status of the rockers and the fit of the pushrods. If they are ok then the only thing left are the tappets - find the faulty one and replace it.
