My 89' bronco II runs fine at an idle but stutters and cuts out alot, mostly in the 2000-3000rpm range. It does it so bad I worry it will blow a gear in my ******! I have a dts code 77 witch I und

Well code 77 is nothing - you are supposed to hit the brake pedal and the gas pedal during the KOEO test. Code 77 is no movement of the gas pedal.
I guess I would start with the statement about driving it home with no problems on the battery, but problems after the alternator was installed.
Have you checked the charging system to see if it is charging around 14 volts ? It could be overcharging which would cause electrical problems.
Unless you can figure out what changed when you replaced the alternator, you will have to find out if you are dealing with a fuel problem or ignition to proceed with any troubleshooting.
Ford products are famous for ground problems. You might recheck the ground connections, especially in the engine compartment.
