Having problems with your Ford E-150 ?

I have a 2001 f-150 with a 4.2 l engine. The air bag light flashes when driving. The only codes that come up are P0401 and P1260. Please advise on all three areas.

I'm addressing the three problem in the order you requested.

1)air bag light can trigger by three items

Do you placed heavy package on passenger seat without buck up?

a)disconnected / defective driver and/or passenger seat belt sensor
fix: check connection under seats

b)disconnected / defective driver and/or passenger weight senosr
fix: check connection under seats

c)passenger and driver shoulder are tangle
fix: pull belts all the way out and slowly return to normal position.

d)defective SRS system
dealer level work

=====
P0401 is EGR related error.
Fix: replace/clean EGR valve and lift sensor
Also clean the EGR recirculation/passage tube.

Carbon built up will cause this error.
Make sure you has plenty of WD-40 or PB blast to remove the carbon.
Let cleaning fluid to soak over night and us a high power shop vac to aid cleaning.

It's a 4+ hours job.

Make sure you use a new EGR valve gasket to ensure zero exhaust leak.

The next engine start up small about of smoke will blow out of the tail pipe. Make surew you do this job in a well ventilated area.

P1260 is a security relate lock out.

Use you spare key to start the engine.

The computer/ECU is program to identify two keys.

If the ECU is replaced the you will need a locksmith to reprogram and cut a new key.
