Having problems with your Ford Explorer ?

My 92 explorer is having issues getting up an going i am lucky if i can get it yo go over 15 mph when i press on the throttle it boggs down and when i let off it will accelerate. I am thinking that it is the fuel filter because it has a new fuel pump. I have been trying to change the filter and i have pressed the pressure release and i can't get the fuel filter and suggestions on what i should do from here and what else it could be if the filter doesn't fix the problem.

Answers :

If you replaced the fuel pump and did not do the filter. That would be a good place to start. The fuel filter requires a special tool ($<15) to remove. It is placed around the metal fuel filter and pushed up to seperate the internal prongs relaseing the filter from the line. If changing the filter dosent help having the truck at the autoparts for a free diagnostic scan will most certainly. Call to check if your local parts will do the scan for free, or buy a OBD scan tool ($40-75). If this was helpful please leave positive feedback. Thanks, SungglePants
