Having problems with your Ford Explorer ?

I have a 2004 Ford Explorer 4.0 before it warms up it shifts perfect at operating temperature though from 1st to 2nd the truck it shimmys a little it goes into 2nd not slipping or pounding just shakes a little, and without delay the Ford mechanic says the 2-4 shift band needs adjustment, oh yeah just had the oil changed about 9,000 miles ago not to fix a problem just normal maintenance, could this be the problem a band adjustment or should I expect something more serious?
