Having problems with your GMC Sierra 1500 ?

I have a gmc 2007 p/u. My rear brake made a squeaking noise and I can't get the drum off, I hit it with a slege hammer a couple of time but I dont want to damage anything. Is there anything else I can do?

Answers :

Yes. They make a tool for that job and it`s called a drum puller. If you have an auto zone near by they should have one and it is free to use. You just pay a deposit and they give it back to you when you bring the tool back. Drums can be very hard to get off because they get rusted to the axle hub and a groove gets worn inside from the shoes. All you can do is keep pulling and tapping and hope you dont break it. If you do break it don`t panic. Drums are usually pretty cheap.
The brake should have a spot on the back side to adjust the shoes in so they arnt snagin on the drums
