Having problems with your GMC Sonoma ?

I have a 1994 Gmc Sonoma that overheats and i dont know why. Today, i started it up and it runs perfect. My temp. gauge doesnt move and i replaced the thermostat about a week ago. Also when i parked it today, i noticed that it had a little puddle under the exhaust pipe and it had a black fluid floating on top of a watery fluid. I think it may have water mixed with the oil too. Can you help me figure out my problem?

I have a 1999 gmc sonoma v6 losing about gallen of water a day dont see anything leaking let it set runing for about 10 ten min water drips out tail pipe
I have a 1996 sonoma 2.2 and they are known for the head gasket on the back corners to leak. mine is leaking really bad right now also, and it drips down the trans and onto the exhaust. make sure you keep the radiator full. If you leak out you water, your water temp on the dash wont register, but the engine will quickly overheat. an easy way to tell if you need to add water is turn on your heater. if no heat comes out add water, and if its hot, add hot water or you might crack your engine block. as long as there is no milky white on your oil dipstick, and no steam coming out of your exhaust, you probably just need a head gasket which is about $90. about $1300 installed.
