Having problems with your Jeep Grand Cherokee ?

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited V8 4x4. The windows will not go down or up unless the driver door is open and you are completely stopped. Sometimes they will not work at all. Also when the driver door is closed get message that driver door is open. Left turn signal will not work. Right turn signal works. Have checked fuses, have taken it to two mechanics. Can you help?

Sounds like you may have two problems that may both be related...I would look first at the wiring that goes from the door near the hinges to the inside part of the car. This is usually quite a bundle of wires that is covered with a protective rubber boot. With use the rubber boot and perhaps some of the wire insulation may have become scraped off and exposing bare wires or even broken some wires. It should be possible to push and pull on the wire bundle some from inside the car to examine these. It may be also that for your particular car the turn signal wiring may go through the same hole to the outside and perhaps up under the front fender so that if broken wires near the hinge are a problem it can cause the problem you said...but not sure. I would really especially suspect the wire bundle is the issue even further because you get the singal that the door is open when it is really closed...so...check those wires very very carefully for problems.
Check the wires running to the master switch in the drivers door. You will see a convoluted black rubber tube that runs from the door to the door frame when the door is open. You may have some broken wires where they constantly bend when the door is opened or closed thus causing a power loss until the wires are moved to such a position that they make contact once again.
