Step 1

The 1st step is to choose a satellite radio. There are many radios to choose from, some are portable so you can listen to satellite radio anywhere you go and some are strictly meant for the car or home. Most importantly make sure that the radio that you purchase has the car kit included. If yours doesn't you may need to purchase one separately.

One of the biggest problems with satellite radios is that they are FM transmitted. Which means that the audio signal is transmitted from the satellite radio and then picked up by your vehicles radio antenna. This is why I strongly encourage you to buy a direct FM adapter along with your radio. They usually run about $30 and it is well worth it. Without this adapter you will be forced to find a clear available station on your radio and you will constantly have to deal with static and a low quality signal.

Step 2

After you have gathered all your materials it is time to get in your car and start removing the dash. Before you do this you might want to choose a practical mounting location for your satellite radio. Personally I think the best location for mounting is in the large pocket that is just in front of the gear shifter.

After you have decided on your location start removing the dash by first removing the gear shift bezel by prying it straight up with your fingers or a panel popper.(be gentle) Then remove the the change tray/power outlet tray. The tray is held on by pressure clips in the front and you will have to remove the (inside) change tray (held on by two pressure clips). Remove the inside trash by sticking two fingers in the tray and pulling out and up. Underneath the inside tray there are two screws. Unscrew them and unplug the power outlet and remove it. Next you must remove the two screws at the bottom of the big pocket. There are also two pressure clips in the top of the big pocket as you remove the pocket. Make sure you remove it with the pocket door closed, or it is near impossible.

Step 3

The next thing you want to do is hard wire the satellite radio's power into the vehicle. The easiest way to hard wire the power is to purchase a fused socket adapter, but if you cannot purchase one of these you can do the following.
1)Open the socket adapter that is attached to the satellite radio's power cord
2)Cut the red and black wires from the silver metal that is attached to them
3) Extend the red and black wires so that you will have enough length to tap into the vehicles wires
4) Tape the socket adapter back up

The easiest and best place to pulled power and ground from is the cigarette lighter plug. Connect red to red and black to black. You may test the wires with a test light or multimeter by turning the key to ignition.

On the right side you will find the antenna plug to run the direct connect. Unplug the male end of the factory antenna and plug it into the female hole in the direct connect and connect the male end of the direct connect into the female end of the factory antenna. Next, Drilled a hole in the bottom of the pocket so that you can run all of your connections through it. Mount your antenna on top of the car (it's magnetic). Plug the audio plug from the direct connect into the satellite radios FM in and connect all of your other connections. (they are labeled). Mount the satellite radio by either the adhesive on the mount or by drilling a screw from underneath the pocket into the mount.
Turn your radio to the station that your satellite radio is outputting (usually 88.1 or 88.3) Put your dash back together and your ready to go!
