Having problems with your Mercury Cougar ?

Car will not start. It sounds like the starter is binding on the flywheel. I replace the starter and it still didn't work. I also shimmed the starter stillno luck. Battery voltage is good as well as power to the starter.

Answers :

It is possible the flywheel teeth are chewed up,in that spot.Turn the crank pulley, with a socket, and ratchet, clockwise only, and then try and start the car.If the starter is grinding, then this may be the problem, the old starter has knocked the teeth off,or chewed the teeth down on the flywheel.I hope this was helpful,if so.please let us know, thank you.
