Having problems with your Mercury Mountaineer ?
Fuel pump went out, need to replace. Need best way to go about doing the repair myself.
Answers :
Check to see if the fuel pump is accessable from a trap door...that can be done by calling the dealor, some are. If it isn't, get as much fuel out as possible...if it is still running run the fuel low. You will need to drop the tank if there isn't any trap doors to it. Make sure that you use OME (Factory equipment) on this one since you don't want to have to do it again. Make sure that you put on a new sock, make sure that you change the filter, and look to see if there is any debrie in the bottom of the tank if there is you want to get it all out. You will put the pump back in the same way that it came out just in reverse of the process...so watch closely the direction that the fuel pump facing when removing it...your do fine.
