1995 Nissan Maxima, V6, 3.0L Engine Shuts Off During Idle
\015 I own a 1995 Nissan Maxima, V6, 3.0L. Several months ago, the car just started shutting off during idle and at times under speeds of 30 MPH.\012I have the Maintenace Manual and have followed the troubleshooting steps for most of the parts however, I haven't solved the problem totally. For each part I've changed, the system has gotten better but I still have the problem. I've changed all of the following parts:\012Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor \012Crankshaft Position Sensor \012Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor \012Throttle Position (TP) sensor \012O2 Sensors\012Idle Air Control Valve-Auxiliary Air Control (IACV-AAC) \012\012I've also replaced all the Ignition coils as I beleive the parts are the original after 240,000 miles. This has helped tremedosuly with the missing, plus I've replaced the sparks plugs...\012\012My question is, what does the EVAP Canister Purge Control Valve perform as this unit is directly attached to the Idle Air Control Valve-Auxiliary Air Control. When I turn the Air Control screw to full clockwise position on the IACV-AAC, I hear the RPM get lower, but the car doesn't "die"; however, after the auxiliary fan motors kick in then turn off, the engine "dies." And when I turn tihe Air Control screw to the full Counter-clckwise position, I hear the RPM's increase and the engine idles faster. When the auxiliary fan motors kick in then turn off, the engine does remain at idle but in high RPMs...\012\012For each process above, I've also adjusted the Throttle Position sensor, which affects the RPM of the engine. I've repositioned the Throttle Postion sensor to various settings, and performed the above steps, with no major changes. The engine still dies...\012\012Another symptom is that during acceleration from idle to around 30-35 MPH, the acceleration is not smooth. I can feel some "missing", almost like it's backfireing. The same thing happens on decelaration. As I watch the RPM indicator, it fluxuates at idle, then steadies out around 600-700 RPM. Sometimes the engine just dies...\012\012Since I've changed everything based on the Manual except for the EVAP Canister Purge Control Valve, I'm at a standstill as to what to do next, hence my question on the relationship between the EVAP Canister Purge Control Valve and the IACV-AAC...\012\012Timing, Cylinder pressure, all vacuum hoses have been checked, etc...The vehicle does not burn any oil...Any suggestions would be great...\012\012Thank Yoiu,\012John M Payne\015
