Hi, have you tried changing fuel and air filter and the plugs this could be the cause of your problem, so check the plugs and the leads check each plug for corrosion or build up of carbon or fuel, if it had fuel on one of the plugs then this would indicate that maybe that lead isnt working correct.

Also have you tried using a fuel additive cleaner you can buy these from most filling stations just make sure you buy correct type ie petrol or diesel.

If the car has been standing for a long time with the fuel level low then their is some chance that the fuel has gone flat and would need draining and filling with fresh fuel.

It sounds like the car isnt running on all cylinders so this could indicate blocked fuel injectors witch the fuel cleaner would clean or it could mean you have electronic fault such as distributer etc this would need removing and checking for any corrosion as corrosion does tend to build up inside it, so give it good clean.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
Renew the fuel filter(every 30000 miles) and the catalitic converter.
