Having problems with your Oldsmobile 88 ?

My 1993 olds 88 stalls when slowing down. It does this frequently. The engine light is on. When it stalls the steering wheel locks and you hardly know it has stopped. Spark plugs were replaced and it just passed inspection. It has stalled during the last three out of four short drives. It is with a mechanic-- he could not get it to stall. What do you think? Thanks, Ingrid

Answers :

You may want to check the idling if it needs adjustment. During low speed since there is less action on the throttle your idle drops until it stalls. You may check the vacuum hoses for leaks and check the fast idle control valve if it needs cleaning. You can also check if there are voltage in all of the sparks as it could be a hi tension wire issue. Check also for fuel if the supply is constant. Other than that I would suggest to have a scanner check the error code as it will provide clue as to which error occurred that was detected by your car's ECU
