Answers :

Most shop guides assume doing a complete reseal of the bottom end which means removing the lower half of the block. This is also sometimes called a two piece oil pan. If this is needed then you have to drop the engine out of the car, no way around it. It may be possible to just do the low pan in the car, but I would invest in the factory manual first. My car leaked a few drops a day so I snugged all the bolts and nuts I could reach from underneath and added one bottle of Bar's Leaks. End of problem.
Drain all the oil until it hardly drips, Then remove all bolts from pan. You shouldn't have to pull tranny back on this one. Just drop the pan, scrape off the old gasket on the engine block, apply a light thin coat of RTV silicone around the pan, place on gasket and bolt on pan. Let it dry for about 12 hours before adding oil. Torque pan nuts at 11ft. lbs
