Having problems with your Volkswagen New Beetle ?

The driver's side window on 99 beetle was very slow going up, but now requires alot of manual help. Is it the motor?? Is it hard to fix?

It is the drive motor. It is not difficult to replace just cumbersome. After you replace the drive motor don't forget to lubricate the window tracks that actually raise and lower the window. You should be able to get the motor and lubrication at Autozone or any other parts store.
Not realy a hard fix to replace the window regulator here is a walk through on what you would be taking on...
\015\012ok you should have some hidden screws on the door panel, most of the time you will find then in the door handle, and close to where you grab the door to pull it closed, remove the plugs that hide the screws.
now you will need a tool to pop the plastic push pins that hold the inside door panel in place. sometimes you can get away with using a long flat screw driver, dont be afraid to give them a pull they will come loose, dont pull the panel all the way off ! ! ! you still need to unhook the wires frome the switches in the panel also there is a rod hooked to the hadle that needs to come off, and if the door lock slide is in the panel that has one too. then lift the penal away and up from the door..
vewallha there underneither you will find your window regulator, thats the entire unit, window motor, rails, and cables or plastic track. there will be a plastic liner also when you pull the door panel off. take care when pulling it off and you can stick it back up with the black tar once your done inside. you will want it back up it keeps the dust out of your car....
good luck
