Having problems with your Volvo 740 ?

I have a 1987 Volvo GLE that stalls (more and more frequently) and then starts (used to start immediately, but now it takes a while before it starts again). I am led to believe the relay for the fuel pump, or the fuses for that relay may be at fault, and that there are some fuses under the hood that might be related to both. The light out warning if the lights are all lit means that you have mismatched bulbs in one of the circuits.\015\012
\015\012The problem with stalling could be a lot of things, including the fuel relay, as those are a common failure point. It would help if you could determine whether the problem was lack of spark or lack of fuel when the car fails to restart.\015\012
\015\012When the car is not restarting immediately, can you hear the fuel pump beneath the car spin up for a second when you turn the key to the on position? If not, take a paperclip and short between the two fuel pump fuses in the fuse box by your left foot. I think it was #4 and #6 but the fuse box cover will tell you. If that makes the pump spin up and the car start, replace the fuel pump relay which is under the dash above your passenger's right foot. If the relay does not make the pump spin up, then the ECU may be failing to provide a ground to the fuel pump relay, The ECU is behind the kick panel to the right of your passenger's right foot.
